We played Cherry Blossom on Sunday as part if our group’s long weekend golf trip to Lexington since Georgetown was on our way back to Ohio. This is a really nice golf course. Challenging but fair. We will play again.

Not just a beautiful course, come play “Kentucky’s Best New Course.”
She’s pretty. She’s also a treat to play.
Renowned golf architect Clyde Johnston did award-winning work when he shaped our layout here at Cherry Blossom. Now it’s time for you to discover the joy of a round here.
Hitting fairways and greens is all the more important at Cherry Blossom.
The green complexes sit on fairly flat ground without much elevation, mounding, or sand to disrupt a confident approach. Hit the fairways and you can score well here – as good shots are rewarded.
The cart paths are paved throughout the course and include yardage markers from 100, 150, and 200 yards to the center of each green. All carts include ProLink ProStar GPS with accurate hole locations and measurements to the pin from anywhere on the course.

Five sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring:
- 6,866 yards/135 slope
- 6,474 yards/133 slope
- 6,011 yards/131 slope
- 5,750 yards/127 slope
- 5,022 yards/129 slope
Bunkering is not overstated as there are only 15 sand traps on the front nine. There are a total of 38 sculpted bunkers, and water comes into play on 8 holes.
The 439-yard, Par-4 18 is the course’s most memorable golf hole, lined by water on the right from tee to green with nine bunkers guarding the landing zones.
Rating: Black Tees 73.6
Par: 72
Slope: Black Tees 135
Grass throughout – tees, fairways ad greens – is bentgrass. We aerate in the Spring and Fall, with as little interruption to your enjoyment of the course as possible. The Fall maintenance schedule includes pulling cores and top dressing, to ensure the course is in tip-top condition come Spring.
Take a quick tour of the course with Steven Conley, Director of Golf.
This is better information than a drone flying over the course! This is actual information you can use, as we’ve asked Steven to give you a few tips for playing Cherry Blossom:
Describe the terrain of the golf course and greens?
You’ll encounter gently rolling hills with relatively flat greens.
What kind of condition is the course in at different times during the year?
Course conditions is one of the things that draw golfers to Cherry Blossom. We maintain the course to be in the best possible playing condition no matter what time of year you play. (And we remain open until Mother Nature says otherwise!)
What’s the best Par-5 on the course?
Number 17. It’s a tight tee shot shot which plays into a hard dog-leg right with a creek lining the right hand side of the hole. Smart play is a hybrid or 3 wood off the tee with a long-to-mid iron for your second shot, laying up to about a 100 yard-approach. Plays best as a 3-shot hole.
What’s the best Par-3 on the course?
Number 12, a short Par-3 island green. It only plays to a maximum of 150 yards but can be very challenging, with pin location tucked in the left corner of green. This forces players to either risk hitting into a bunker or missing the green into water. The smart play is center of the green regardless of pin position.
What’s the toughest hole on the golf course?
Number 18, our finishing hole, is a long Par-4 of 438 yards, typically playing into the wind. A group of fairway bunkers split the middle of the fairway in the landing zone, leaving players around 175 yards to the green, with water bordering the front and wrapping around the right side to the back of the green. This is also our “Signature” hole.
Finishing my round (16, 17 and 18) do I have a chance to salvage my round? Is it rough? Fun?
Ours are considered the hardest three finishing holes in the state. A great round can go astray very quickly if not played properly. YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED! It’s still a great round regardless of how you finish. And if it’s that bad, we have some “magic elixir” waiting for you in the clubhouse to erase the memory!
